The year 2019 has been one of the most important in recent history for many football players and we have a Top 10 list of the very best to show you.
Contrary to different years in the past, there is a major difference from previous years as the list has some new names on it.
Also, we’ve been living in a decade that has been controlled by only two players and things have changed during this year.
We came up with a list of names who we consider the best in this sport, but feel free to include any player you want in the comment section down below.
We give you, the Top 10 best players around the world in 2019.
10.- Robert Lewandowski
The Polish striker has been playing at an elite level for the last decade, his story with Bayern Munich is arguably one of the most successful.
Although he hasn’t been able to win the UEFA Champions League with his club, Robert still dominates in German football.
With the one he achieved last season, this striker has won four Bundesliga top scorer trophies and an average 40 goals per season in all competitions.
9.- Eden Hazard
The Belgian winger finished last season at the very top amongst the best players in the world, but his start of this season hasn’t been as expected.
After leaving Chelsea with the UEFA Europa League under his belt, Eden finally made his wish of playing for Real Madrid come true.
The star went on vacation and took lees care of his body during this time, something that he hasn’t recovered from yet.
He remains as one of the best players in the world, but he needs to prove himself at Real Madrid.
Neymar hasn’t been active for the last two seasons due to a couple of injuries he suffered and he also tried to leave PSG during the summer.
His attempt to go back to FC Barcelona didn’t go as planned, which left him at PSG with a multitude of fans who don’t respect him anymore.
All Neymar can do is respond on the pitch, something he’s done perfectly during the start of the season.
The Brazilian player needs to do a lot more in order to find forgiveness from the supporters, like win a trophy or something.
7.- Raheem Sterling
There has been a lot of buzz towards Raheem Sterling over the last year, he’s truly reached an impressive level of performance at Manchester City.
The comparisons he’s been getting with Messi and Ronaldo aren’t smart and this could harm him more than it helps him during his career.
This year appears as an even greater challenge for Sterling in a new season, where he will have to help his squad win the UEFA Champions League.
Sterling is not one of the best yet, but he does make the Top 10 list in our book.
6.- Kevin de Bruyne
The best midfielder in the world is from Belgium and he plays at Manchester City right now, Kevin de Bruyne, has been one of the best for a few years now.
The injury he suffered right after the 2018 World Cup was unfortunate, but he managed to return to his best level of performance.
We are currently looking at a player who has Pep Guardiola’s full trust for this new season and he certainly has a lot more to show the world before the end of the year.
5.- Kylian Mbappe
The youngest star on the list is this 20-year-old forward, Kylian Mbappe, who had a thrilling end of last season for PSG.
During his final months, there was even a feeling that he could actually win the Golden Shoe against Lionel Messi.
However, the incidents he had on the football pitch got him suspended a couple of times in Ligue 1.
If he hadn’t gotten those red cards, we would be looking at the youngest Golden Shoe winner in history.
4.- Mohamed Salah
It’s safe to say that the Egyptian striker is no longer a one-season wonder, he has already proved himself with his level of performance at Liverpool.
Mohamed Salah is one of the strongest contenders to possibly take Messi and Ronaldo’s throne in football someday in the future.
We are still looking at a player who is hungry for more titles. This season will be crucial for him and the Reds in the Premier League.
Mo has already won two consecutive top-scorer trophies, but he is keen on trying to win his third.
3.- Virgil van Dijk
The player who might take the Ballon d’Or home this year is Virgil van Dijk, and he also happens to be a defender.
The Liverpool star was one of the reasons that the Reds had so many clean sheets during last season.
But the biggest reward for him was being able to win the UEFA Champions League, an achievement that very few players in the football world can get.
Virgil already won the UEFA Player of the Year award, he may also win FIFA’s The Best trophy in late September.
If he wins those two individual accolades, there is nothing that can stop him from winning the Ballon d’Or.
2.- Cristiano Ronaldo
The Portuguese forward did the unthinkable once again, he moved to another competitive European League and conquered it.
Ronaldo keeps collecting many records under his belt, he can keep playing football until he is 40 and he doesn’t look like he will stop any time soon.
On the international stage, Cristiano also won the first UEFA Nations League in history after beating Virgil van Dijk’s Holland squad.
The year 2019 has been spectacular for Ronaldo, but that’s not a surprise anymore.
1.- Lionel Messi
The Argentine star had another fantastic year with FC Barcelona, he won the Golden Shoe once again after scoring 36 goals last season.
This helped the Catalan club win another La Liga title, and reach the UEFA Champions League semifinals.
Leo wasn’t able to defeat the Reds in the competition, but he still scored some important goals against them in the first leg.
Regardless of this collective failure, Messi is still considered the best football player of 2019.
