La Liga has confirmed it that it sides with Barcelona in their legal dispute with Lionel Messi, saying that his transfer clause of €700M must be paid before he is allowed to leave.
The Barcelona star has a deal clause that permits him to leave at the end of every season. This was believed to have expired in June until it was reported last week that it had been extended along with the La Liga season.
However, Barcelona President, Maria Bartomeu along with the entire Barcelona administration, refuse to give up their treasured player, Lionel Messi, without a fight.
La Liga has therefore come to their rescue. A statement says from them clearly states that Messi cannot leave the club unless the condition of his release clause is met or the club settles to negotiate a sale – which is obviously not what the club wants now. Except these two conditions are met, there is no hope for Messi’s transfer to any other club, as the second condition is seeming impossible for now.
Right now, as things stand, there may be no club that is willing to let go of that amount for the Argentine striker, especially for the reason that he plans to retire at 35, making the contract seemingly not worth it.
