14 houses set ablaze in Taraba State over change of a school’s name

No less than 14 houses were said to have been singed and two individuals harmed following an assault on Dan-Anacha Village under Gassol Local Government Area of Taraba State.

Nearby inhabitants said inconvenience began during the week following the mandate of Governor Darius Ishaku that the name of the auxiliary school in the network be changed from Dan-Anacha to Kwararafa.

Kelvin Katyo of Taraba Tiv Youth Council said that the representative had on November 15, 2019 of every a letter through the Executive Secretary, post-School Management Board, coordinated the name change which turned out poorly well with the individuals from the network.

As per him, students of the school, who were not happy with the name change arranged a dissent requesting that the representative return the choice. In any case, they were assaulted by furious adolescents.

Katyo stated, “The Chief of Tiv in Gassol, Zaki Erentsa Simon, had won on the Tiv individuals in the town to try to avoid panicking after the dissent. Be that as it may, in the night, a few people suspected to be Governor Ishaku’s sympathizers, assaulted and consumed 14 houses having a place with the Tiv individuals in the town.

“We wonder why the senator is doing what he is doing now. We needn’t bother with a name change now since it will heighten strain in the state.”
